Jesus said, “Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness” Matthew 23:28.
“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12).
And the Apostle Paul spoke of “lawlessness leading to more lawlessness” (Romans 6:19).
My younger brother went to jail for trafficking drugs when he was 17. I’ll never forget seeing him come down the hall toward me wearing a pale green prison uniform when I went to see him at Spy Hill in Calgary. I gave him a big bear hug, knowing the difficulty of his childhood and all that led to this, and told him I loved him.
Trump has been trafficking lies for years. These lies are infinitely more dangerous and damaging than marijuana, yet Trump is still running free. Where’s the justice in that? Trump has been convicted of sexual assault and 34 counts of felony, but he’s never served a day in prison, and if he’s elected again, he probably never will, because he’s rich and powerful, unlike my beloved brother.
And yet Trump repeatedly demonizes immigrants, calling them rapists and criminals. This is the epitome of hypocrisy!
Do we really want the President of the United States to be someone who gives everyone, from our youth to world leaders, the excuse to be their worst, deceptive, selfish selves?
Or do we want a leader who understands the importance of order and justice and safety, and laws that protect us and lift up the oppressed so we can all live in peace and unity?
Do we want to vote for a leader our children and youth can look up to as an example of godly integrity?
WHICH CANDIDATE WILL WORK TO UNITE THE COUNTRY?
Alberto Gonzales is a long-time Republican, and Former Attorney General under President George W. Bush. He also served as a Texas Supreme Court Justice. He is the Dean of University College of Law. He writes:
“I can’t sit quietly as Donald Trump – perhaps the most serious threat to the rule of law in a generation – eyes a return to the White House.”
He says there are a host of Republicans, lawyers in particular, who are concerned about Trump’s lack of willingness to abide by the rule of law. “Kamala Harris has demonstrated fidelity to the rule of law.
“After the election, whoever wins, we’re still going to have a divided country. There may be 70-80 million people who will disagree with the views of the new president. And I think about who is most willing to work to unite our country?
“Kamala Harris is the most likely to be dedicated to try to unite America. I don’t see that willingness, that discipline in Donald Trump…
“This is going to be an extremely close race. Every vote for Harris makes it more likely that Trump will not be reelected…
“Who is best for this country? Who is best suited to preserve the rule of law – the rule of law is what allows us as Americans to enjoy our freedoms.
“Trump’s talk about the United States being in decline, becoming a third world country, that we’re a disgrace, and embarrassment…to me, that’s the embarrassment.”
HARRIS: There is more that unites us than divides us.
Kamala Harris also said she would put a Republican in her cabinet if she wins the election. “I think it’s important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views, different experiences.”
“The true measure of strength is in who you lift up…”
